Solution M Bus www.m-bus.com
Description: Solution developed in Germany to support domestic utility metering. Supports twisted pair and wireless.
Used widely throughout mainland Europe and supported by all major meter manufactures

Standard available as EN 13757
Hardware: Radio chipset, with embedded protocol stack
Cost: Same as other 868Mhz radios ie, approx €5
Data: Wireless M-Bus speed at 868MHz
Wired M-Bus data transmission speed is very low
Power: 5mW
Frequencies: 868MHz
Protocols: M-Bus protocole defines all 7 OSI layers
Data Exchange Format: OBIS id. These do not fully cover all the electricity meter features butthese are currently being defined in an ‘open protocol’ working group in Germany and therefore should be available for the implantation of smart metering
Use in other applications: Designed specifically for metering applications
Use in other markets: Used extensively in mainland Europe
Maturity: Over 80 companies have implement M-Bus in their products
IEC standard since 2001
Support for ‘Last Mile’: No, design suitable in home communications
For: Well proven, widely deployed, 868Mhz good transmission frequency
Against: Issues relating to the interoperability of the standard and elements from the overall architecture are not yet resolved.
Notes: http://www.m-bus.com/ Pending EN 13757-5 supports the use of repeaters/relays.

I want some information about wireless M-Bus.
1)How the meter devices will associate to concentrator in various modes of wireless M Bus(S1,S2,T1,T2,R2)?
2)How the device authentaction will happen(Like ZigBee)?
3)I want some information about Control field in link Layer Packet?

Do you have any information on how Wireless Mbus and EN 13757 is (or will be) integrated into the different project that have been launched since the beginning of 2009?

I refer to OPEN METER project initiated on 01/01/2009, and recent European mandate issued to "create a European standard that will enable interoperability of utility meters "...
